Standing Rule on the Reading of the Call to Meeting

They are adopted by majority vote of the Congregation (Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised §2:23, §35:1) and are recorded here for reference. A standing rule is not an amendment to the Constitution or By-Laws.

Adopted by the Congregation by unanimous voice vote, April 26, 2026, with the timing of the verbal reading clarified to coincide with Sunday morning worship (Minutes of the Quarterly Business Meeting of April 26, 2026, §3.3).

Whenever the Bylaws of Mayflower Church require that “the call to the meeting be read,” that requirement shall be satisfied by announcing the date, time, and location of the meeting at the opening of the meeting. The full written call shall be made available in printed form at the entrances to the meeting space and in the foyer for any member who wishes to consult it.

This standing rule may be amended or rescinded by majority vote with previous notice, or by a two-thirds vote without previous notice, in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised (§35:2).
