Governance Position

Role Summary

Purpose	Serve as the lead teaching elder and chief shepherd, providing spiritual leadership, preaching, and pastoral oversight.
Accountable To	Board of Elders and Congregation
Term of Service	Indefinite, called by 3/4 vote of congregation
Selection Process	Normally recommended by Search Team, voted at business meeting
Time Commitment	Full-time ministry position

Must evidence qualities in Acts 6:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Qualifications further defined in Pastor Job Description.

Serve as lead teaching elder and voting member of the Board of Elders
Serve as ex-officio member and advisor to all other Boards and Teams at his discretion
Preach and teach the Word of God faithfully
Provide spiritual leadership, vision casting, and pastoral care
Lead the church in fulfilling its vision to know Christ and make Him known, and its mission of building a discipleship community rooted in the knowledge of Christ, driven by faith, empowered to share the Gospel, and committed to welcoming and equipping others in Love and Truth
Become a Member of the Church upon signing a contract and affirming Statement of Faith and Covenant

Ongoing theological education, pastoral conferences, denominational resources

A signed acknowledgment is required when a member accepts this role.
